Help us Win!
I know it has been an insane amount of time since I posted last. I have been knee deep in cat related activities and haven't had much time to do anything on here except check my mail. Once things calm down a bit, I'd like to get back into this. I like sharing our furry faces with you.
The reason I am posting today is that our organization has entered into a contest called the Shelter + Challenge. Basically all we need everyone to do is to vote EVERYDAY for our organization and get us moving in the upward direction in the ranking toward the grand prize...a grant for $20,000! Our furry ones could absolutely use this and we're asking for your help.
Here is what to do:
Go to theanimalrescuesite.com
Click on the Shelter + Challenge purple tab on the right
In the Shelter Name box, type: Oswego County Animal Welfare League-SPCA
Then once it brings it up, click on VOTE
It will ask you to confirm an animal photo and then you're all done!
If you bookmark their page, it will automatically prefill our organization's name and all you have to do is vote. You have to vote everyday to get us to move quickly.
We started this on September 22nd and have moved from 5,351 to 834, so it's possible!
We have until December 20th and time is moving fast! Please help us out. We'd really appreciate it.
Here are some of the critters that would be helped by this...
June
Ruthie
Zinnia
Midge
Loretta
We've lost a few of our older guys in the last few months. Old age finally took them. We are glad that they got to spend their days with us and we will miss them very much. Rest in peace, my friends.

Random Shelter Shots-Special Edition
I go to the foster home every day and after the initial shock of the mess wears off, I settle in to my routine of feeding, cleaning and giving love to quite a few kitties.
As you all know by now, we did a large scale rescue last August, which brought us over 100 cats at one time. We still have the majority of these cats for a few reasons. We had to rehabilitate quite a few. They were in rough shape physically and emotionally. Some, still after rehab, aren't quite as trusting of humans as others, so they may be with us a while or indefinitely. Some haven't overcome their physical problems and would be difficult to adopt out.
A lot of them, however, are ready and raring to go. They would love a home of their own and a person to give them the attention they so much deserve. I thought I'd share some photos of some of the cats from that rescue. Some have collars because there are so many black kitties that we had to identify them somehow! Now we could take the collars off and I'd still know who they are. That's how much their personalities have developed.
Enjoy...
My man, Zane. He's the oddest shaped kitty. He LOVES people and other kitties so much.
Rita is finally coming around. She was a hold out, but lately is coming around for the pettin'.
George. Oh George. We're in love.
Little Miss Veronica. She's wee, dainty and extremely sweet.
Mia is a teeny tiny kitty. She's still a bit shy, but you can pet her all day.
Elliott. Thinks he's a dog. He sits up on his back legs like he's begging. He rolls over to have his belly petted. It's odd, but super adorable.
Caleb. Beautiful kitty with a huge purr. He's a lover.
Lancelot is still a bit shy too, but once you start petting him, he forgets.
Ringopants. He's my boy also. He has come a very long way. He used to growl at me when I'd try to pet him and now he seeks me out. It's an awesome transformation.

For Shah
I figure she could use some really good head-exploding cuteness. These are our latest arrivals in this world. They are going on 5 weeks old, zooming around and attempting to eat food already. They're rather wee and fragile. We already lost one and hope to not lose anymore. They have a great mom, Bernice. She's extremely attentive and lets us manhandle her kids whenever we want.
Enjoy!
To get an idea of their size. Wee tiny next to mama.
They still have their rat-like feet. We have been fighting an eye problem. Middle kid has it pretty badly.
Grey kid is ready to climb!

The Boys
I was getting tired of reading that people suck, so I've decided to update with this pic of two of our cutest residents, Ernest and Julio. They are two of the six kitties that I found in the wine box by the side of the road last year. They are absolutely adorable and sweet as can be. And obviously, they love each other very much...
